Stop losing deals in between meetings.

Aligned is changing how B2B teams run their most important deals.

Most reps guess where a deal really stands. They forecast on a gut feeling and the buyer’s word vs what's actually happening. Then they realize the deal slipped through only after it's too late. Aligned surfaces what buyers are actually doing inside every deal: the risks, the openings, and the exact next step to keep things moving.

Lusaka Gets Its Anchor, Addis Gets a Front

THE KILWA VIEW

Zambia reached an IMF staff-level agreement on Friday, a week before our book expected one, and the kwacha now trades against a funded program instead of a promise. In the Horn the opposite happened: Ethiopia and Eritrea filed rival letters at the Security Council, which gives the dispute a forum but no ceasefire mechanism. Between the two sit the states paying for fuel with balance sheets, from NNPC's discount to Gabon's reshuffle. We buy the anchored balance sheet and price the unanchored border.

NINETY SECONDS

What changed since Friday

✓ Zambia reached an IMF staff-level agreement on Oct 9 for an SDR 1,076m ECF, about $1.5bn over three years per the mission chief. Near-term risk moves to Moderate. Our Dec 31 roughly-even call grades a hit.

▲ Ethiopia and Eritrea filed rival letters at the UN Security Council. Addis alleges an advance of up to 60 km inside Tigray, Asmara calls it a pretext aimed at Assab. Both party-stated.

✓ Morocco. USFP's national council voted Oct 10 to join El Mansouri's government. The projected bloc holds about 210 of 395 seats. Our likely call grades a hit.

● Senegal set a November IMF Board and December accords de principe. Friday's bill cleared at 7.87% with 93% of the target retained.

● 3 new calls are on the book, from Morocco's finance bill by Oct 20 (likely) to IMF Board approval for Zambia by Dec 31 (likely).

Zambia's $1.5bn IMF deal arrived early and turns the kwacha into a funded story

IMF staff reached a staff-level agreement with Zambia on Friday Oct 9 for a new Extended Credit Facility of SDR 1,076m (IMF via Reuters).

Why it matters. The program turns the Sep 30 rate cut from a bet into a policy move with a funded balance sheet behind it, and its fiscal targets now bind the 2027 budget: the Treasury already said it will cut next year's Constituency Development Fund after a maize overspend (Lusaka Times, Oct 12).

KILWA READ · LIKELY · 55-80%
We assess IMF Board approval of the Zambia ECF by Dec 31 as likely (55-80%). Confidence is moderate: staff and the authorities both named December for implementation, but the Fund has not published a Board date. Our Oct 7 book had the agreement arriving later, and we revise the view on the page.
WRONG IF  No IMF Board approval for the Zambia ECF announced by Dec 31, 2026.
WATCH NEXT  Oct 12-18, Bangkok: IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings, where Lusaka's delegation can put a Board month on the record.

By seat. PE & VC: Underwrite Zambian exits on a program-anchored kwacha from December, not on the September spot. DFIs: Sequence kwacha lending behind the Board date and the first review. Corporates: Lock 2027 kwacha budgets now that the Fund sets the fiscal envelope.
